Listen to and discuss the MacTalk produced podcasts. Over 3,000 weekly listeners enjoy them, you might too!
It was raised at the MacTalk parkmeet on Sunday between mouthfuls of pizzaburger that it's been a while since we did one of these shindigs. So, after discussion with the Grand Angus tonight we've decided to go ahead.
This thread is to begin the organisation of the event:
What: A live podcast featuring the Can Touch This fellas and the MacTalk guys
When: We normally record on a Wednesday, thinking the 7th April give or take a few days.
Where: This is where you come in! We used The Birmingham last time and the stage was a little cramped for 4, let alone 6-7. What we need is this:
- A function area with space for about 50-60 people
- Power! We need to be able to record this thing and amplify it back to you, so power is a must
- A decent sized stage area with room for tables and computers
- Preferably licensed
SO! People of Melbourne, spew forth your recommendations and brainstorming ideas.
The first place that comes to mind for me is the Bella Union Bar at trades hall, but I think during those dates it will be taken up by Comedy Festival crap.
Other good places include Vibe on Smith in Fitzroy has a great upstairs area that can hold up to 120 but doesn't look empty when half full.
And The Wesley Anne in Northcote, which does functions has a private room.
I'll keep thinking but hope that gets the ball rolling.
Maybe Glitch in Fitzroy North.
Glitch Bar - EatDrink - ThreeThousand
Upstairs @ Honey in Sth Melb. Corner of Clarendon St and Park St.
Large area, bar, on 2 tram lines, awesome staff, food, comparable size to the last place but much more flexible as to where to set up the equipment. Great city skyline views as well.
