The iPhone forum. Talk about the hardware and troubleshooting here.
As we have just released Time BOM I would like to start the iPhone Stand Competition that RustyShelf has spoken about.
The rules are:
- Your stand must be home made (as in you can't just buy a griffin stand and show that off), however at our discretion we may accept bought stands with heavy modifications.
- You must post a picture to this forum of your stand, with a brief explanation of how it came into being.
- Your screenshot must feature Time BOM (obviously!)
- Your stand doesn't have to support both vertical and horizontal iPhone positions.
- The winner will be picked on the 1st of April by myself and RustyShelf, and the winner will receive a $20 iTunes voucher. We may extend the end date if only one person enters like our last competition.
- Me or RustyShelf aren't allowed to win even though our stands are awesome. We will post some pictures soon.
Good luck! I look forward to seeing your creations.
My "MiniDV" stand, works in portrait and landscape mode, brilliant for travelling, you can store your Apple (or other) earphones inside it!
Forgot to mention, you can file a little plastic where the iPhone sit's (when in landscape mode) to keep it from slipping off the stand.. kind of like a little angle, remove a little plastic. Depends on your MiniDV case.

That is a great looking stand! Much better than RustyShelf's original design using a business card and Blu-Tack
I also have a 'paper clip' stand, which I'll post later.. made with a regular paperclip and a pair of pliers, practical, and cheap, but not as good for travel!
The ability to hold things inside the MiniDV stand make it an awesome hack. (like earphones, coins, whatever)
Meh, business card stand rocks! Simple, easy to build out of office materials, and invisible! Even Steve is jealous!

The trusty business card stand! fits in a wallet. Speaking of, there are a bunch of places selling actual business card iPhone stands that fold in every which way to create a sturdy stand, and fold flat when back in your wallet.
I've even seen stands made out of cash (eg, $1 USD note).. doesn't work well with the plastic AU notes)
that is cool![]()
Here's my stand :-) And I bought Time Bom after seeing this competition - exactly what i wanted!
My stand is the result of a 4 year apprenticeship....I knew those V blocks and clamps would come into good use one day lol!

Nice! Is it a coincidence that both you guys have Jandakot as your location?
My final entry:
Looks like Steve with one of the first iPad prototypes
Though our Chief Breakerer/Admin Kylie wants to take credit for it, but it's my Steve!

Jandakot, heh, I just used the nearest station to my location, and I must admit, I'm only about 10kms west of Jandakot.
Lol - hey I'm in Coolbellup - small world!

I've made a few of these, for myself and others. Simple and functional

that's the paperclip stand I've made a few of.. I'll refrain from posting it, since you just did. my only mod is I have a rubber band around the front feet/legs, it protects the rim of the iPhone a little better
