Anything to do with Apple as a company or general Apple fanboy lovin' - Steve Jobs is God.
Consider the following screen grab from the recent iPad ad that screened during the Oscars:
If you've got a MacBook or MacBook Pro adopt a similar hand position, put it to the side of your monitor, and see how far up the screen your finger reaches. Either Apple is distorting the size of the screen or Megan Fox is working two jobs...
Doesn't look too far off...
Height: 242.8 mm (9.56 inches)
Width: 189.7 mm (7.47 inches)
If you create a mockup of an iPad the bezel makes sense for handling reasons. This photo fits what I have seen.
Just had a go myself and I think you're right - the hand model chosen does have small hands. They are also holding their finger in a specific way - left thumb 'comfortably' in the bezel area only, and the right forefinger angled away from the camera so it doesn't cover too much of the height of the screen.
My hand size is slightly below the male average according to wikipedia.
A similar hand positioning on my 17" MBP finishes at about half way up the display so my hand would make the iPad appear small. But by using the world's shortest adult thumbs they make the screen appear large:
It started with Justin Long, now we're on to Megan Fox.
You obviously have freaky sized thumbs then!![]()

Apple will always use very nice hand models, fairly gender neutral. These look female. The size is about right. I have fairly large hands and I'd made an iPad mockup on day one. Here's an awkward to take shot, take with photobooth on a 27" iMac. Note that I'm trying to approximate the shown hand position, as best I can, whilst lying upside down on the ground holding something up in the air quickly after hitting Command + T.
I think it's about right.
